Dinosaurs, Dragons and Men

It's funny how humans are so extreme in their thinking. On one side, if you are convinced there is no God and that we evolved, you jump on any evidence that makes our earth appear very, very, very, very old.

Otherwise, the theory of evolution is on shaky ground due to the incredibly low probability a string of slow miraculous changes in such a short time.

Even 5 billion years is not enough. The probability is more like a huge number we haven't even invented yet. (Read: Science and Religion: Both Dating Methods Are Wrong.)

But on the other hand, you get religious people counting "begats" in the Bible and claiming the earth was created less than 6000 years ago. And in order to get that theory to fit the physical evidence, you have to "prove" that dinosaurs and man coexisted at some time in the not-so-distant past.

The internet is filled with this "proof." Including dinosaur and man's footprint in the same fossil. Well, I'd hate to break it to you, but there are a lot of trilobite and human footprints in the same rock, too. All that tells us is that we don't entirely understand fossilization yet.

Or what about pictures, sculptures and other representations of dinosaurs in ancient civilizations. Even some on stone-age pottery.

But if that is proof, then scientists in the future are going to go nuts with all the "proof" that 20th century man coexisted with dinosaurs when they find this buried in a landfill . . .

Sorry to be so cynical, but stop and think for a second. The people who lived before the flood were just as curious and possibly smarter than we are. Consider how smart you would be if you lived to be 800 years old and didn't have a mind-numbing computer screen staring at you 24/7.

It is not a stretch to realize that pre-flood man found dinosaur bones and spent time reconstructing and studying them. I'm sure little boys back then were fascinated by these awesomely cool, giant monsters with big sharp teeth. In fact, don't you think that the legends of dragons existing in a prior, mythical time period stems from the discovery of dinosaur skeletons 6000 years ago? I don't think modern man has a monopoly on speculating about ages past.

Look, I'm proof that speculation is a very tempting human weakness. It's a lot of fun, too.
